The McGrath Greater Springfield Running Festival to be held on Sunday 15 September 2019 was officially launched today by Festival naming sponsor McGrath Springfield.

Tracey Caruana & Steve Hodgson of McGrath Springfield said they look forward to again welcoming runners from all over South East Queensland to Greater Springfield and Ipswich for the second annual edition of the McGrath Greater Springfield Running Festival.

The 2018 Festival saw more than 1,000 of South East Queensland’s finest and funnest runners descend upon Greater Springfield for the inaugural running of the Festival.

The 2019 course will make good use of the soon to be opened Sportstar Drive to extend the breathtaking skyline course which sweeps along Springfield Central Boulevard, Grande Avenue and now Sportstar Drive to a 5km lap for the 5km, 10km, 15km and Half Marathon events.

The 2019 Festival moves a few months later in the annual running calendar to 15 September 2019 to take full advantage of the exceptional running conditions in September and the soon to be opened Sportstar Drive.

Sportstar Drive provides access to the Springfield Central Sports Complex  which will be the newest and one of the largest sporting precincts in South East Queensland hosting 4 full size sports fields, sixteen netball courts, 8 multi-use fields, 8 tennis courts and an athletics track.

The 2019 Festival will host 5 distances being a Half Marathon, 15km, 10km, 5km and 1km kids/family event. Entrants are welcome to run or walk all distances. Drink stations will be located every 2.5kms.

The Festival course sweeps along the very top of the Greater Springfield skyline tracing its way through wide and immaculately surfaced tree lined boulevards.

All events starts at the corner of Health Care Drive and Springfield Central Boulevard before taking in Grande Avenue and the soon to be opened Sportstar Drive.
